The Hampshire Chronicle reports that Thornfield Properties has been placed in administration, threatening the £100 million Silver Hill Renaissance scheme. Now, the future of the highly controversial redevelopment of the Silver Hill area looks uncertain, despite Winchester City Council's pledge to 'press on' with the plans.
Many local businesses and residents, not to mention ourselves as a successful business based in the Kings Walk Antique Market for over 25 years, would certainly NOT agree with Winchester’s Liberal Democrat MP Mark Oaten , who is quoted as saying: "This is disastrous news for Winchester. We’ve already been waiting years for this development to take place. Now the developers have gone bust the future of the city centre looks bleak."
Unlike Mr Oaten, we don't see the future as bleak, so come and see us soon to discover a thriving community of dedicated traders, not a retail wasteland!
